Winds Calm Tonight, Skies Clear, Cooler Temperatures
Staff Report /
**Tonight’s Forecast: Decreasing Winds and Clearing Skies**
According to the latest update from the National Weather Service (NWS) Denver/Boulder, conditions are set to improve overnight as strong winds gradually diminish across the plains. The low-pressure system responsible for the day’s high winds is moving eastward, allowing for calmer weather across the forecast area.
Snowfall in the mountain regions is expected to ease as the evening progresses. Although some clouds will linger over higher elevations, skies over the plains will clear overnight, resulting in cooler temperatures. Forecasted lows will dip into the teens and 20s across the region.
Here are the projected wind gust measurements for selected cities, showing a steady decrease throughout the night:
- **Akron**: Starting at 52 mph at 4 PM and dropping to 28 mph by 11 PM.
- **Boulder**: Winds will calm significantly, going from 16 mph at 4 PM to 6 mph after 10 PM.
- **Denver**: Gusts will fade from 28 mph at 4 PM to just 9 mph by 11 PM.
- **Fort Collins**: Winds will reduce from 38 mph at 4 PM to 22 mph by late evening.
- **Fort Morgan**: Starting at 44 mph and diminishing to 22 mph by 11 PM.
- **Greeley**: Winds forecasted to drop from 40 mph to 19 mph throughout the evening.
- **Julesburg**: Slowing from 41 mph at 4 PM to 20 mph by 11 PM.
- **Limon**: High gusts of 51 mph earlier will reduce to 22 mph nearing midnight.
With clearing skies, temperatures will become chillier by early morning, ranging from the high teens to low 20s in most areas. Residents should anticipate colder conditions during early morning hours and exercise caution while traveling, as some areas may experience lingering weather impacts from earlier wind activity.
