Akron Public Schools is partnering with Myers Driving School to offer partial-tuition scholarships for spring driver’s education classes through the Drive to Succeed Program. The scholarships are available to active students in grades 10–12 who have a valid driver’s permit.

The program will award 25 scholarships at each designated building using grant funds from the Ohio Drive to Succeed Program; participants are required to pay $50. Applications are accepted from APS students between the ages of 15.5 and 20 years and must include a short application and a "Statement of Need" essay. A pre-questionnaire and a post-questionnaire are required from selected students.

Applications must be submitted using an APS student email account before the deadline for each session. For example, applications for the session held at Buchtel must be submitted by January 12 at 8:00 am with notification on January 14 at 5:00 pm. Classes will run from January 26 to February 5 during Weeks 1 and 2 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 7:45 pm. A second session held at East will have its application deadline on February 9 at 8:00 am, with notification on February 11 at 5:00 pm and classes scheduled from February 23 to March 5.
