Akron Public Schools in Ohio announced a holiday season appeal aimed at assisting families experiencing homelessness. The initiative, called Project Rise, is collecting gift cards to help families in need. Families facing homelessness may be living in shelters, motels, with friends or relatives, or in temporary locations that are not meant for long-term living.
