Akron Closes Offices, Delays Trash Services Christmas/New Year's
The City of Akron will close all municipal offices on Thursday, December 25, in observance of Christmas Day, and on Thursday, January 1, in observance of New Year’s Day. There will be no trash or recycling service on these dates. Instead, there will be a one-day delay in service for the remainder of both weeks, with services resuming on the following Friday.
Additionally, from Friday, December 26, through Wednesday, December 31, the City of Akron Sanitation/Curb Service Division will allow residents to place extra trash alongside their carts on their regular collection day. This service is designed to accommodate extra holiday items such as wrapping paper and gift boxes. Residents are encouraged to continue placing cardboard and other recyclable materials in their recycling carts.
