Wake County Boosts Reading With Annual Coalition Meeting

Wake County Public Schools held its annual WAKE Up and Read Coalition meeting this week in Apex, North Carolina. The WAKE Up and Read Coalition is a community partnership that includes more than 30 agencies working to ensure that all children in Wake County read proficiently by the end of third grade.

Last school year, Wake County students received over 62,000 books through a book drive and distribution within partner schools. For those interested in getting involved, additional information is available on the district’s website at www.wcpss.net/wuar.

Dr. Robert P. Taylor, Superintendent of Wake County Public Schools, provided the information on the initiative and events.
